83rd ACADEMY AWARD MAKEUP ARTIST AND HAIRSTYLIST SYMPOSIUM
Of course everyone knows this Sunday is the Academy Awards! and for all you make-up artists/lovers out there this Saturday February the 26th is the 83rd Academy Award makeup and hairstylist symposium. This years Oscar nominees in the makeup/hairstyling category will be discussing their work. This is a great way to meet some connections and find out how these make-up artists work their magic!

Inspiration: EYES!
Today's eye-makeup look:
The Urban Decay Naked Palette and MUD eyeshadow in Vineyard were used to achieve this look. I used Virgin, Creep, Gunmetal and Half Baked from the Naked Palette; please comment below or email glamsociety@hushmail.com for questions or to request a tutorial.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils are the perfect medium for creating a well-defined eye with little fuss, even for the shakiest of hands! After lining, try using a shadow brush to apply similarly hued shadow to the liner for a softly edged effect.
Add a pop of highlighter to the inside corners of eyes to bring them back together and counterbalance the black liner that can make them seem farther apart.

A List of My Least Favorite Things:
While sitting in a chair having my eyelashes clamped and curled at school today, I realized that the experience prompts enough anxiety to boost it up to a spot on the list of my least favorite things in life. (I'm considering general circumstances, I know that terrible occurrences like earthquakes, accidents, tornadoes, hurricanes, illness, injustice, poverty, hunger, and similarly heartbreaking things happen every day and are much more serious than anything I am about to list).
As far as my fairly normal list of least (fairly controlled) favorites go, I have a spot reserved for the annual (yes, THAT annual), getting a shot or having blood drawn, going to the dentist, and having my eyelashes clamped inside a metal curling device. I thought of this list while sitting in a chair being made pretty and realized just how much I truly love my Japonesque heated eyelash curler for my own use.
I'm still reeling from the lashing!
What route do you prefer to make those lashes perky?

The Great Liner Debate
As I alluded to in my previous post, I am currently furthering my (makeup) education at a specialized makeup school in Southern California. Which, might I add, is a perk for you also because you'll be receiving more information and helpful tips related to one of our favorite past-times - makeup!
Today's class concentrated on eyeliner; focusing on (material) options, technique, tools, and trends! After practicing applying with varying combinations of the aforementioned, it seemed that the material favorite was "cake" eyeliner. My personal favorite, however, is still pencil eyeliner. I love that pencil liner can be applied in a thin and natural or bold and dramatic style, a clean or smudged line, and can create a nice outcome even for the shaky-handed.
My absolute favorite pencil, you ask?
I am particularly fond of this pencil's creamy texture that can be easily sharpened to create a slimmer line or applied messily and smudged.
